Last weekend, we celebrated the Feast of St. Michael and All Angels (a week early, because the festival is today) by making a host of angel cookies and a dragon for them to battle. In the background you can see the feet of the fondue pot, which held a lake of cheezy fire into which we cast the dragon, piece by piece.
We also listened to Britten’s radio cantata “The Company of Heaven” (which I’m about to put on again).
We throw geeky parties.
What goes in the middle?
Is this combination really as good as people say it is?
It’s even better with a strawberry milkshake in place of the Frosty. Seriously.
2nd most traded commodity in the world, after oil.
2nd most popular drink in the world, after water.
Coffee by the numbers.
Looks like chili. Looks good.

How I feed myself while Hannah’s gone.
Ingredients
Directions
Cook the pasta and the peas. Mix everything except the cheese together and put into a lasagna dish. Top with cheese. Bake at 350°F until cheese has melted and begins to brown (about 1/2-hour).
I AM SET FOR SIX MEALS.
@ $1.50/MEAL.
This is also basically how I survived grad school. I splurge on the cheese because basically pasta is pasta, tuna is tuna, and peas are peas, but there is no substitute for good cheese.
BONUS: start cleaning right when the casserole goes in the oven. Then by the time dinner is ready, all of the cooking dishes are clean except the lasagna pan, and that doubles as a storage container!
